SKEMA’s HOPE association sends school supplies to Cambodian students

Published on 07 September 2022

Every year, SKEMA’s HOPE student association undertakes humanitarian missions abroad. This year, the students have sent school supplies and basic necessities to the students at a public secondary school in Keathavong, a village in the southernmost province of Kampot in Cambodia.

Last July, our HOPE Lille association students collected $1,500 worth of school supplies for a Cambodian school in the south of the country. Despite travel difficulties due to flight cancellations and the health situation in Asia, the students managed to send the material to the school children. "Initially, the plan was for the whole team to go there for a month, but unfortunately, due to the flight disruptions and health situation in Asia, we could not go there. However, I took advantage of my three-month internship in the country to organise the convoy," explains Yannick Romer, a student in his third year of the Master in Management (PGE) programme and a member of the Humanitarian Mission Cambodia team.

Students finance a new library

In its shipment, the HOPE association sent school supplies, English and Khmer language textbooks, educational books on Cambodian history and world maps. In addition, HOPE donated $1,500 to the school for the construction and furnishing of a new library. "It was a great experience for me. I got to meet the teachers and the school management, who organised a small ceremony for the occasion,” said Yannick.
